A Year 11 student at St Joseph’s College has made history by becoming the first 15-year-old to win a five-year contract. Harry Williams has signed with Welsh side Scarlets in a deal that will allow him to continue his studies at St Jo’s until the end of Sixth Form, before joining the team full-time.
Harry, a No 9 scrum half, is following in the footsteps of his older brother, Tom, who was also educated at St Joseph’s. Welsh Academical Tom also played for Wales Under 18s.
Further cementing the reputation of St Joseph’s College as the region’s premier rugby school is Sixth Former Emmanuel Iyogun, who has been signed by Northampton Saints. Manny, who boards at the school, was the first recipient of the Michael Davey Scholarship, an award set up in memory of a much-loved Head of Sixth Form at the College
Manny joined the St Joseph’s as a No 8 but has worked with the coaching staff at the College and at Saints to transition to front row.
